In this unit, the students will investigate the weather. They will identify some of the components of weather. They will create a flow chart and write an explanation to describe how these elements occur. The students will investigate different weather measuring devices. They will design and make a weather device and work in a group to create a simple weather station. They will explore different ways that the weather is reported in the media and then create a television weather report. The students will become familiar with different meteorological disasters. They will research a specific meteorological disaster that has occurred in Australia. They will listen to a guest speaker from an emergency service in their local area and will then create an emergency plan in the event of a meteorological disaster in their local area.
