This unit of work introduces the students to the seasons. The students will walk around the playground and identify what season they think it is, and will then create a calendar about the seasons. The students will create charts which list ways to identify the seasons through means such as the weather, clothes and activities. They will create a sun safe poster to inform others of ways in which they can protect themselves from the sun during summer. They will investigate the colours of autumn leaves and make their own leaf to add to a class autumn tree. The students will participate in an experiment, to investigate which fabrics are waterproof and will then use a waterproof fabric to create a piece of clothing to protect themselves from the rain in winter. The students will discuss new life in spring and will match animals to their babies. As a culmination to the unit the students will create collages which represent the different seasons.
