Speak to usIn this unit, the students will explore different ways that they can move their bodies to music and other stimulus. These movements include locomotor (E.g.: running, jumping and leaping) and non-locomotor (E.g.: curling, stretching and swaying) movements. The students will play games such as Follow the Leader and musical statues to introduce them to basic ways they can move their bodies. They will respond to music and pictures depicting animals in the form of dance. The students will sing familiar songs and add dance movements. They will also have the opportunity to have some free dance time in which they are encouraged to respond to the music in a way they would like. The students will recognise the health benefits of dance and they will jointly construct a poster promoting dance as a fun and healthy activity.
