Speak to usThis mini unit has been developed to help the students explore facial features. The students will examine self-portraits and discuss the way in which they have been created. They will talk about the way in which the artist has expressed him/herself. The students will discuss the position of facial features such as eyes, nose, mouth and ears. They will use a mirror to explore their own facial features. The students will paint a portrait. They will create facial features using nuts and bolts. They will use plasticine to create faces with different expressions. The students will use craft material to explore the texture of hair. They will add hair to a self-portrait they have painted. The students will also draw themselves, including at least one item that is significant to them in their picture.
