In this unit, the students will create an imaginary place called “Beacon Hill Creek”. They will identify and create a role for themselves in this town, either in the past or present. They will explore the ways in which development has changed the features of Beacon Hill Creek and will debate the pros and cons of development, considering the environmental impact which this development has had on the town. The students in the unit will be encouraged to work in group situations, while expressing their skills in expressing themselves creatively. They will experience different drama forms such as play building, depictions, and hot seats.
