Staying Safe On The Roads
This unit focuses on the ways in which the students can keep safe when using our roads. The students will create a wall graph of the different ways in which they get to school. They will discuss their experiences of crossing the road and appreciate the importance of holding an adults’ hand when doing this. The students will identify the safest places to cross the road and will create a set of rules to follow to ensure their safety. They will then use these rules to role play crossing the road safely. The students will discuss safe practices when travelling on buses and will jointly construct a slogan to communicate the danger of crossing the road in front of or behind a bus. Finally, the students will identify the safety features in a car, describe different car restraints and will create a picture book describing rules to follow ensuring their safety when travelling in cars.
