Speak to usIn this unit, the students will explore State and National Parks. They will identify and visit their own local park and complete an observation checklist. They will identify reasons why we have state and national parks and become familiar with the types of parks that exist. The students will locate a state or national park on a large map of Australia. They will compare and contrast the features of two parks found in very different environments. They will recognise the importance of Aboriginal heritage sites in parks. The students will listen to a guest speaker talk about threats to our parks and ways we can preserve the environment. They will create a poster to educate others about ways to behave in a park. The students will plan a holiday to a park and then create a travel brochure.
