Speak to usIn this unit the students will examine how shops within the community satisfy some of our needs. The students will initially go on a walk through the local shops and will create a map showing where the shops are and what they sell. They will then identify one particular shop and will examine the layout of the shop, the size, the furniture it uses, what it sells, who works there, what equipment they use etc. They will use this information to compile a report on the shop. The students will then identify one product in the shop and will research how it is produced, packaged, stored and delivered. Finally the students will examine the shopping habits of people within the local community by interviewing them. They will collate the responses in graph form and will then interpret the results forming generalisations about how the local shops are used.
