Speak to usThis unit of work has been developed to help deepen the students’ understanding of the different ways that puppets are made and how to produce a puppet show. The students will discuss what a puppet is. They will brainstorm a list of different types of puppets and will view a DVD of a puppet show to gain an understanding of what is needed to produce their own show. The students will identify an intended audience for their puppet show and will select a picture book that lends itself to the production of a puppet show. The students will then turn this into a script and will use this to identify what puppets they need to make. The students will identify a type of puppet eg shadow puppet that they would like to make and will research how to do it. They will make the puppets and then discuss and experiment with using musical instruments to create sound effects. Finally the students will rehearse their puppet show and will present it to the Kindergarten students.
