Multiplication and Division 1
In this unit the students will investigate the substrand, multiplication and division. They will participate in a whole class sorting activity, in which they sort the students into groups according to eye colour, hair colour, gender, age etc. They will identify groups that are equal and the number in each group. Then the students will sort a container of jellybeans and record the groups that they have created. They will count the number in each group and identify any equal groups. The students will then be asked to share the jellybeans equally with a friend. They will be encouraged to record their work.
