Speak to usIn this unit, the students will be immersed in literary texts such as‘The Rainbow Fish’ by Marcus Pfister, “Felix and Alexander” by Terry Denton, “The Pirate Who Wouldn’t Wash” by Michael Salmon, “Pheasant & Kingfisher” by Catherine Berndt & Raymond Meeks and “The Giraffe, the Pelly and Me” by Roald Dahl. The reading component will focus on these picture books. They will explore such things as the characters, the plot and the illustrations. They will complete activities, which will develop their reading skills and their appreciation of literary texts. In the writing component, the students will become familiar with the way in which narratives are structured. They will use the picture books as a model and be involved in the joint and independent construction of a narrative. In addition to this, they will write a procedure and a recount. In the Talking and Listening component, the students will complete a variety of communicative activities in addition to tasks related to the theme.
