Speak to usThis unit has been designed to increase the students’ awareness of the importance of being fit and the different ways in which we can improve our fitness. The students will discuss ways that they stay fit. They will work in a small group and devise a questionnaire to find out about fitness in the community. They will collate the information in graph form and write generalisations about fitness. The students will participate in a fitness test which includes an endurance run, arm hangs, sit ups and arm reaches. The students will then participate in a different activity each week aimed at increasing their fitness levels. These activities include participating in an obstacle course, circuit activities, vigorous games, skipping and a health hustle. The students will then do the fitness test again and see if there have been any improvements.
