In this unit, the students will participate in Drama activities focusing on a variety of common celebrations. The students will invent an imaginary birthday present and describe it to the class. They will hot seat a birthday boy or girl. The students will take on the role of a wedding guest and introduce themselves to the class in this role. They will mime receiving a Christmas cracker and using the toy inside. The students will make a Christmas cracker using a variety of craft materials. The students will create a new means by which the Easter Bunny can deliver eggs. They will act out their ideas. The students will make props and dramatise a Chinese superstition, which is important to Chinese New Year. They will also contribute to the class presentation of a Chinese New Year parade. The students will prepare and present a tableau and freeze frame related to Mother’s Day.
