Lester and Clyde, Running Scared by James Ryce
In this unit, the students will participate in a variety of drama activities based upon the picture book, “Lester and Clyde” by James Reece. The unit will also include some visual arts activities to support and build upon the drama experiences. The students will recreate scenes from the text by taking on a part and using expression, movement and sound to build a role. They will work in groups to prepare and present a tableaux. The students will create a mask using clay, paints and a variety of implements for an imaginary swamp creature. They will become this creature and introduce themselves to the rest of the group. The students will participate in a mantle of the expert activity in which they become expert pond managers. They will hot seat Lester and Clyde.
