It's all about the Christmas Play!
In this unit, the students will listen to and respond to two stories about Christmas, “Wombat Divine” by Mem Fox and “A Christmas Story” by Brian Wildsmith. The students will complete a variety of reading tasks based on these texts which will enhance their understanding and appreciation of the texts as well as develop their comprehension and reading skills. The students will also contribute to the joint construction of a description and recount. They will also write a simple description and recount themselves. The students will participate in learning experiences in the Talking and Listening component of the unit such as a Hot seat, oral retelling of a story, a recount of something they enjoy about Christmas and they will participate in a Nativity play based on the text “A Christmas Story”.
