Speak to usIn this unit, the students will investigate kitchens and how they are built to suit the people who use them. They will create a map of their kitchen at home and will discuss and identify the appliances that you would find in a kitchen. The students will describe the functions and features of different kitchen appliances and will then design and make their own. The students will then look at foods found in the kitchen and will sort them in different ways. They will be involved in conducting experiments to investigate how heating and cooling changes different foods such as eggs, rice, pappadams, carrots, prawns and popcorn. Finally the students will be involved in making chocolate crackles and jelly/cordial to investigate how the ingredients used to make these change when heated and cooled.
