Speak to usIn this unit, the students will investigate the classroom, as an environment where they can learn, be happy and safe. The students will identify and describe a place that is special to them. They will identify the classroom as another special environment. They will describe and sequence activities that are carried out in the classroom. They will identify each student as a special and unique part of the class and will create a profile of themselves in the form of a mobile. The students will discuss times when they feel happy and safe within the classroom. They will discuss their rights and responsibilities within the classroom and will match rights to the corresponding responsibility. The students will contribute to the writing of class rules and will then role play situations and identify them as being fair or unfair. Finally the students will identify and describe the role that they can play in caring for the classroom. They will then complete a commitment to a particular role ensuring that the class becomes a happy and safe environment where they can learn.
