Fruit Salad!
This unit is a mini unit in which the students will explore fruits and vegetables. They will make models of fruits using plasticine or clay. They will consider the colour, shape and texture of the fruits when manipulating the clay. The students will examine the shapes and lines within different fruits and vegetables. They will cut out paper shapes to create a variety of fruits and vegetables and arrange these on a piece of art paper. The students will use paint to create fruit and vegetable prints and they will create a pattern. They will look at a still life painting of a fruit bowl and discuss what they see. They will then create their own painting of a bowl of fruit. The students will create a Mr Potato Head by adding a variety of materials to a potato in order to create facial features.
