In this unit the students will investigate fractions. The students will name the parts of a fraction cake. They will use the same size piece to make a pattern with a given value and record their work with numbers and symbols. They will also select fractions cards with the same denominator and will add them. They will attempt to formulate a rule for adding fractions with the same denominator.
