Farming in Australia
In this unit, the students will explore farming in Australia. The students will identify the different types of farms within Australia and will research facts about a particular type of farm. They will match everyday foods and items to the type of farm where they were produced. They will learn about the steps involved in the production of bread and will create a flow chart showing how another everyday item is produced. The students will investigate how farm machinery has made farming more efficient. They will discuss environmental issues related to farming, and will create a poster showing what farmers can do to take care of the environment. The unit will culminate in an excursion to a farm and a reflection on what the students know about farming in Australia.
