This unit has been designed to increase the students’ awareness of the importance of being fit and the different ways in which we can improve our fitness. The students will identify the different components of fitness and will then answer a questionnaire about fitness. They will participate in a fitness test, which involves them doing an endurance run, arm hangs, sit ups and arm reaches. The students will then participate in a different activity each week aimed at increasing their fitness levels. These activities include participating in an obstacle course, circuit activities, vigorous games, skipping and a health hustle. The students will then do the fitness test again and see if there have been any improvements. The students will finally design an individual fitness program for a week which will include warm up and cool down activities and activities aimed at increasing their strength, endurance and flexibility.
