Speak to usIn this mini unit, the students will learn about procedures through cooking. The students will complete reading tasks such as text reconstructions, making milkshakes and a Milo by reading and following a recipe, and they will also complete a cloze passage. The students will explore the structure of a procedure. They will label the parts of a procedure and will contribute to the joint construction of a recipe instructing how to make a milkshake or Milo. The students will write their own recipe for a sandwich with 3 fillings and will create a recipe for something of their own choice. In the talking and listening component of the unit the students will listen and follow an oral procedure instructing how to make a vegemite sandwich and in the final two sessions they will practice and present one of their recipes as if they were a chef on a cooking show.
