Speak to usIn this unit, the students will investigate products found at home and will explain and mime how these are used. They will identify the supermarket as a source of some products that we need. They will visit the local supermarket and identify some products they use at home and explain how they are used. The students will then investigate why some products are packaged and will identify the different ways to package products. They will sort products according to how they are packaged and will describe why they think some products are packaged in a particular way e.g. why milk is packaged in plastic bottles rather than cardboard boxes. The students will choose a product and design and make a new package for it. The students will then re-visit the supermarket and will identify the purposes of different areas. They will create a map of the supermarket and use this map to set up a classroom shop where they will place their packaged products in an appropriate place and then role-play shopping in the classroom supermarket.
