Area 2.4
In this unit, the students will investigate the concept of area. The students will order the shapes in the patterning blocks, and will use squared paper to help them calculate their area. In doing this they will appreciate the need for a more accurate way of calculating area. The students will then investigate a square metre. They will construct a square metre and use it to find spaces that have the same area, and spaces that have a smaller or larger area.
