In this unit, the students will investigate the concept of area. The students will identify an object and investigate how much space it takes up using formal units of measurement. They will create a grid overlay for the area of this object and use the overlay to find objects, which are bigger, smaller, and the same size. The students will then choose other objects and order them according to their area.
