Aboriginal Lifestyle Prior to Colonisation, After Colonisation and Now
In this unit the students will investigate Aboriginal lifestyle prior to colonisation, after colonisation and now. They will create a timeline to see the comparative time between Aboriginal and white occupation in Australia. They will form groups and research specific aspects of a traditional Aboriginal lifestyle. They will watch DVDs and read information texts about British colonisation. They will create a flow chart showing the effects of white settlement on their lifestyle. The students will then compare traditional Aboriginal life to life after white settlement and will record the results in a matrix. The students will also listen to a guest speaker and obtain information about how Aboriginal people live today.
